Remember killer's victims

Chicago lost 11 women during a six-year murder spree that ended in 1999.

Their names are familiar to few, their stories largely untold.

Their murders didn't dominate the news. Their terrifying deaths did not grip Chicago as they should have. They were prostitutes and drug addicts, women society prefers to ignore.

But when the man who brutally raped, strangled and bludgeoned them was convicted Friday, the people who loved them wept tears of joy.
